The Choice Is Yours

If you're a woman who can afford to just go out and pay for every new skin care breakthrough or cosmetics product advertised I'm happy for you. Me?  I've alway had to watch my pennies and spend them wisely.

Every once in awhile due to misleading,  sometimes downright dishonest and certainly inaccurate advertising claims, I just couldn't resist buying something that jumped out at me through beautiful packaging sparkling with incredible promises. I'd usually end up dissappointed in the results or should I say lack thereof.

Sometimes the latest and greatest product would create skin conditions I certainly wasn't bargaining for. I suffered everything from allergic reactions to rosacea to breakouts.  Often my skin would look greasy or oily. If not greasy looking then the product that was being touted  as revolutionary  would do nothing at all for my skin.

This went on for most of my young adult years. I just never was able to acheive the dewy look that all the products claimed would be the benefit of their remarkable breakthrough in skin care.

Then when I was in my late 40s I found a book written by Paula Begoun  titled "Don't Go To The Cosmetics Counter Without Me." From that day on every skin care product I 've  purchased has turned out to be exactly what I wanted it to be. Why? Because Paula Begoun had become my Cosmetics Cop.

I hung on to that book for years. I wrote a list of Paula's recommendations that stayed in my purse always. When I changed  bags that list went into the new one. I called her my skin care guru. I never bought anything that didn't earn one of  Paula's great.
